Hey there! So as you guys may or may not know, I was a featured blogger this week on Shecan.us. If you haven’t had the chance to head over to She Can and check out my post, you are in luck! I decided to also share my post here as well! I had a lot of fun working on this post because it is something that I truly believe in, so I hope you guys enjoy!
So for today’s post I spent a lot of time thinking about what my post should be about, and what would draw the most attention to my blog. In doing this, I reread all of my posts, looked to see which topics had the most views, and I also spent time seeing what other bloggers were up to. In the midst of all this research, it hit me. Why should I spend all of this time seeing what others are doing if it is just going to cause me to blend in?
One thing that I have learned about blogging is that everyone seems to be doing the same things. Everyone has the same outfits, picture themes, and blogging topics. If the goal is to get more views and likes, shouldn’t we be trying to stand out, be different?
When I come up with the ideas behind my posts, my main goal for my post is to be a reflection of me. I don’t want my work to blend into the millions of other fashion and lifestyle blogs. We are all called to be us, an individual created uniquely in Christ. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “I knew you before I formed you in your Mother’s womb, before you were born, I set you apart.” Right here in plain writing it says that we are all set apart, so why do we spend so much time trying to blend in?
When it comes to blogging, or even just my actions, if I impact someone in some way, then my job is done. Impacting just that one person gives me more satisfaction than any like or amount of views could give me. Why? Because who I am and who God created me to be changed someone. Isn’t that an amazing thought? Having the power and ability to impact someone through a blog post or a simple smile shows how easy it is to be you. I know this because Psalm 139:14 says, “I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Your works are wonderful, I know full well.”
So next time you are struggling with an idea for a blog topic, outfit choice, or just getting through your day, remember God created you just the way that you are without flaw. He calls upon us and tells us this in yet again in Romans 12:2:
“Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is – his good, pleasing, and perfect will.”
But in the great words of whoever said it, “Be a flamingo in a flock of pigeons.”
With that said, I hope you too can go through your day with the comfort of God’s word that you are uniquely you, and it shouldn’t be any other way. I however am extremely thankful and grateful that God has blessed me with this opportunity to impact others in the ways that I am. I also hope you too can find some way that you can have that ability.
